January brings to mind beginnings—it’s the start of a new year, the perfect time to commit to a habit (or break an old one). But when we looked back to see what Domino readers bought post-holidays, you surprised us. Chic workout gear and booze-free spirits were not among the top sellers. We saw a commitment to interiors instead, namely in the form of big-ticket furniture items (including one splurge-worthy sofa from Maiden Home) and organization heroes like woven baskets and secret storage benches. Still curious to find out what the top 12 best-sellers in January were? Read on.

Songmics Rubber-Coated Hangers

As seen in: I’m a Professional Organizer—Here’s Why I Stopped Using Velvet Hangers in My Closet

Remember when velvet and felt hangers were all the rage? They promised to last longer, taking on weightier articles of clothing without buckling or causing awkward creases, and still look unassuming in size compared to their larger wood counterparts. But when a pro organizer wrote why she decided to ditch the fad altogether in January, Domino readers listened and snatched up her alternative.

Going for rubber meant no more mysterious fuzzies and that she could air-dry wet laundry without worry. Plus they’re more sustainable—shocker, right? Velvet can’t be recycled, she writes, whereas ABS plastic and metal can. While the 50-pack she recommends, just $37 on Amazon, is currently out of stock, we found a pretty close replacement for an even more affordable $35. “I love these hangers! They hold clothes and yet are easy to remove without a struggle. Their slim design is also very space saving. I use them in every closet in my house,” one reviewer writes. Another comments, “Sturdy and drip dry like plastic hangers, with the sleek look and nonslip aspect of velvet hangers.”

H&M Home Quilted Bedspread

As seen in: The Best-Priced Linen Sheets and Colorful Glassware on the Internet Are at H&M Home

Not long after labeling H&M Home as a destination for the best-priced linens, its duvet covers and bedspreads were snatched up in bunches, but none more than this stitched cotton style. Available in four neutral shades, including a trendy sage, it’s a fraction of the cost of our other favorite brands. For less than $100, you can achieve a layered look by draping this 71-by-98-inch lightweight blanket over your bed. One happy purchaser gushes, “What you see in the image is exactly what this bedspread looks like. It seems well made and is of lighter weight; offers versatile uses; washes up nicely; and has a terrific look that complements any casual room.”

As seen in: You Still Have Time to Order These Lunar New Year Altar Staples

No matter if you were in need of decorative details to elevate your own Lunar New Year altar or are simply a sucker for pretty wares in general, Domino chief content officer Kate Berry’s personal recommendations for tiny cups, sculptural taper holders, footed bowls, and large serving trays were hard to say no to. Of the 20-plus listings, Domino readers snatched up this glazed Splatterware-like piece, made in Sweden, more than any other product. The effect is more contemporary in comparison to the traditional pattern, giving the stoneware a modern feel. The lipped edge adds to the drama, making it a great fit to host fruit or other small treats all year long.

As seen in: Mini Table Lamps Are the Ticket to a Cozy Glow During Wintertime

There are plenty of expensive pint-size table lamps out there—Flos’s Bellhop comes to mind or the Panthella—but Domino readers went after this affordable mini that our style editor, Julia Stevens, found. In fact, the monochromatic number is just $12 right now. Adding small lights like this one into your home will help create the “vibiest” of vibes, especially during those long, dark days of winter, as one past purchaser can attest to. “Little lamp, big performance,” they write. Another elaborates that although it arrived in packaging no bigger than a size-9 shoebox (keeping expectations low), she was pleasantly surprised at how much of a difference it made once placed in her bedroom. “After it is completely set up, it gives off a comfortable, peaceful light,” she adds.

Anthropologie Velvet Curtains

As seen in: The Best Velvet Curtains Are Capable of Instantly Warming Up a Room

Looks like more than one reader was sold on these luxe matte velvet curtains. Available in a range of rich, jewel-tone hues in a velourlike finish, they look and feel high-end. While the price tag doesn’t exactly fall under the “ultra-budget” umbrella, especially since they’re sold by the panel, you’ll still get a better deal than having to go the custom route. Plus not only are these dreamy to look at all hours of the day, framing your windows, you can draw them close to block out light or drafts. Win-win.

As seen in: This Week in Cool Things for Kids: Customizable Bed Frames and Pastel Playmats

The top seller from the second installment of our new series—Cool Things for Kids—was this adorable checkerboard onesie complete with footies. We’re sure buyers were enamored with the variety of pastry-inspired colors (hello, tiramisu, stracciatella, and blueberry muffin!); organic cotton construction (it shouldn’t bother sensitive babes!); practical zipper placement; and foldable mitten cuffs. While this one-piece was an obvious favorite, it isn’t the only article of graphic clothing from Spearmint. There’s also matching knit hats, button-closure jumpsuits, tops and bottoms, headbands, and more worth stocking up on, too.

Amazon Brass Pharmacy Floor Lamp

As seen in: This $75 Amazon Lamp Is Almost Identical to the $700 Version

We first spotted this $75 brass pharmacy style hanging out in YouTuber and affordable decor finder Kiva Brent’s home. Not only does it look far more expensive than it actually is, it’s a pretty practical piece. Brent explains in an Instagram reel from a couple month’s back: It swings 360 degrees, has a built-in smart dimmer (simply hold down the switch to up the brightness), and can adjust from 47 to 55 inches in height. Plus it’s even cheaper in the brushed nickel and black finishes, both priced at just $65.

As seen in: Lulu and Georgia Just Hit Refresh on This West Coast–Meets–British Collection

Were you just as “low-key obsessed” with Los Angeles–based designer Ginny Macdonald’s new Lulu and Georgia case goods as our shopping team was when it dropped earlier this month? We, and our readers, couldn’t resist the timeless British-inflected details of the Topia nightstand, inspired by topiary, in a California-cool dark finish. The modern heirloom is the perfect example of form meeting function, which is why, of all the pieces in her new collection to choose from, we think it won people over. With a drawer that can be opened with two brass knobs, clutter can hide away—hand cream and coasters come to mind—and a bottom shelf stores book overflow.

As seen in: We Not So Secretly Want West Elm Kids’s New Toy Baskets for Closet Organization

Domino readers were clearly just as excited as we were about West Elm teaming up with Misha & Puff, the Massachusetts-based maker behind the cutest children’s knits. While the line was designed to introduce young ones to a more “sophisticated palette to help nurture their creativity,” we thought this set of rattan baskets, with their adorable scalloped edge, would look just fine in a big-kid (read: adult) room, too. You all agreed, picking up this cottagecore-cute pair in numbers.

Every time we post a photo of a Loloi rug from the Chris Loves Julia collection, we’re guaranteed to receive a comment inquiring where it’s from. So when we updated our guide to the best kitchen rugs, readers didn’t even have to ask—they just went right to this vintage-inspired runner. It’s been discounted on Amazon for a while now, and the rug we recommended is a crazy-affordable $26. But the larger the size, the larger the discount. Even the 5-by-7.6-foot rug, for example, is 54% off. Thousands of positive reviews reveal how easy it is to clean the soft-underfoot, flat-weave style. No wonder it was scooped up in droves.

Urban Outfitters Upholstered Bamboo Storage Bench

As seen in: This $129 Storage Bench Keeps My Ever-Expanding Tote Bag Collection in Check

We cannot say enough good things about this storage bench that one of our editors brought home a year ago. And readers certainly bought into her review, which pointed to the fact that it holds 16 canvas totes without any closing hiccups; doubles as a shoe rack; and is slim enough to fit in her narrow entryway without blocking a main walkway. Another reason why it’s worth the buy: You could easily DIY its no-frills design to your liking; just staple over a patterned fabric or take chalk paint to the frame to make it your own.

As seen in: The Best Slipcovered Sofas Are Customizable, So Go Ahead, Coordinate With Your Living Room

Domino readers love a good slipcovered sofa, and Maiden Home takes the top-selling spot this January. Its crisp seams are tailored to perfection and the hand-sewn covers fit so snug it looks bespoke. But the clean lines aren’t the only reason it won our audience over. This one doesn’t require any crazy upkeep (you can add its covers to your weekly laundry pile), especially for those who choose a performance fabric. And since this is the sort of piece you’ll love for years to come, readers don’t seem to be deterred by the price point—this is a big purchase to begin with, after all. Maiden Home’s customer service receives an A+ rating from us, too, which helps when it comes to investment furniture worth splurging on.

As Seen in: Double Any Room’s Potential With the Best Murphy Beds

We’ve all been mesmerized by a Murphy bed before, right? Especially a video or GIF showing someone typing away at their desk, then all of a sudden pushing it out of the way and pulling down the bookcase behind them to unveil a queen-size mattress, revealing in a matter of seconds that their office is actually a guest room, too.

Murphy beds are ingenious pieces of furniture. They are chameleons that allow you to make the most of a space, even a studio apartment, and there’s no end of delight when revealing a queen-size mattress from what looks like an armoire. But they can get pretty expensive, especially when one needs some bespoke tweaking. Domino readers were content with this particular option on Amazon, however. It may not have any shelves, but it can easily masquerade as a closet. Or as our writer so eloquently put it: The blank canvas is just waiting for you to dress it up as you please. This one also uses a classic dual-piston system, so pulling it down and stashing it again should be a breeze.
