Aha! Hack: The Practically Free, Make-It-Yourself Storage Tool

Over on Remodelista, Annie rounded up some great examples of branches repurposed as a knife rack, pot holder, utensils rail, and more. (See The New Rusticity: 11 DIY Ways to Use Branches Indoors.) Call it foraged storage.

Our favorite example was the reinvention of the branch as a clothes rack. With minimal effort and almost no money—all you need, in addition to a sturdy and sculptural branch, are two hook screws and natural rope (think sisal, hemp, or jute)—you can create a pretty wardrobe storage solution, all in an afternoon’s time.

Wooden hangers add to the rustic look. You could also opt for S-hooks if you want to keep it super-simple.
