The most popular Instant Pot recipe! Much better than take-out! Feel free to upgrade and add mushrooms, bell peppers and anything you like.

Testing the Recipe

For the test, I base it off of four factors:

  • Ingredients
  • Taste
  • Quality
  • Cooking Level

The ingredients were optional to be fresh, I used fresh broccoli and a steak for the beef and it really leveled up the meat in the meal. The taste was pretty good, the first time I added in gluten-free Hoisin sauce but the second time I made the recipe it was the normal brown color of the sauce. Although it was still a thick sauce, I do recommend not using the amount of cornstarch the recipe says unless you want a thicker sauce. The quality of the beef and broccoli was good and beginner-level.

Ratings:

  • Ingredients: 10 out of 10
  • Taste: 9 out of 10
  • Quality: 9 out of 10
  • Cooking Level: Beginner
  • Overall Rating: 9 out of 10

Final Thoughts

Overall, the recipe was good and I cooked it a variety of times to ensure. Like I said in my comments above, I believe the amount of cornstarch you use depends on how thick you would like the sauce. I will be making this recipe again because its easy and simple for cooking after work.

Instant Pot Beef & Broccoli

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ lb chuck roast or flank steak sliced into thin strips
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • ¾ cup beef broth
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 pound broccoli cut into florets
  • 3 tablespoon water
  • 3 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions:

  1. Put canola oil in the Instant Pot and select “Saute”.
  2. When the oil is ready, brown the meat in batches.
  3. Stir in the beef broth, garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar and sesame oil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  4. Lock the lid in place. Cook at high pressure for 10 minutes. Make sure the valve is set to the sealing position.
  5. When the cooking time ends, do a quick pressure release. (Set the valve to the venting position and when the valve drops, carefully remove the lid)
  6. Add the cornstarch and water mixture and stir until smooth.
  7. Select “saute”, add the broccoli and stir a bit.
  8. Close the Instant Pot and let the broccoli cook for 3 minutes (fresh) or 5 minutes (frozen) on saute (no need for pressure cooking).
  9. Open the lid, serve and enjoy!
